2011 Programme Jan-April now Uploaded! Friday, Dec 24 2010

The new programme can be found on the links or clicking here: http://2leftwellies.wordpress.com/troop-programme/

One of the biggest changes is that the Two Left Welly Challenge will no longer feature as a weekly event.

However, I do intend to continue a weekly information blog about things “Scouting” and if there are any reports from camps and activities they will be uploaded here too.

As a special Christmas present – here’s a picture you can use as a screensaver!!

TLW Challenge – w/c 6 December (last one before Christmas!) Saturday, Dec 4 2010

Hi gang!
As this is the last TLW challenge before Christmas, I thought we’d have some fun. You will get TLW points for every joke you post as a comment – the more jokes, the more points AND possibly the win for the year! Easy!

Obviously there are a few rules:
1. You can’t repeat a joke that has already been posted
2. You can’t use swearwords
3. It cannot be offensive.

So, I’ll start

Mrs Santa claus is looking out of her window. “I think it’s a bit wet out” she says.
“It’s OK” says Santa “It’s just rain, dear” (Reindeer???!!!)

TLW Challenge: starting 22 November Friday, Nov 19 2010

Next week is the District Scout Quiz – so this will run for a couple of weeks. All you need to do is add a comment below, or email your answer to the leaders (or, as a 3rd option, write your answer on a piece of paper), to answer this question:

Which of the Scout Laws do you think is the most important FOR YOU… and WHY?

The Scout Laws can be found on the TLW website here: http://2leftwellies.wordpress.com/the-scout-law-and-promise/ , if you’re not sure exactly what they are.

TLW Challenge – w/c 15 November Saturday, Nov 13 2010

This week’s TLW Challenge is in readiness for the Troop meeting – Origami.
Origami is the very old art of paper folding.

To that end, for our Troop meeting you must bring the largest square single sheet of paper you can find. Note – single sheet, not lots of pieces taped together!

You will get points for bringing the square paper with you. There will be additional points for the person with the largest sheet of paper. You will not get any TLW points for just bringing a regular A4 (that is, rectangular) sheet.

TLW Challenge: w/c 08 November Monday, Nov 8 2010

Hello everyone,
Apologies, but I just did not get a chance to set up the TLW challenge for Friday.
I was pleased to see so many hats being worn for the last meeting – so loads of TLW challenge points handed out!

This week, we will be at the other location (not the church) and will be plane making. Now, to make this interesting, I will give you three options to win points:

1. Bring a BLUE felt tip pen so you can decorate your model plane once completed
2. On the Airfix history – what was the FIRST model the Airfix company produced in the late 1940′s(http://www.airfix.com/about-airfix/)
3. What is the airplane promoted through both the “Help for Heroes” link AND “Project Airfix” on the Airfix home page (http://www.airfix.com/#)

Good luck!

TLW Challenge – w/c 25 October Friday, Oct 22 2010

Our next meeting will be for Fireworks (enjoy the half term break!) so the TLW challenge for next week is this:

EACH SCOUT MUST BRING / WEAR A HAT

More information about the evening (timings etc) will be sent to Scouts via email, but as it will be so shortly after Halloween, here’s the Bonus:

IT’S TRICK OR TREAT WEEK. By this if ALL Scouts in the Patrol are present WITH HATS, then it’s a TREAT; otherwise the Patrol is subject to TRICK. Spread the word!

Two Left Welly Challenge – for w/c 11 October Saturday, Oct 9 2010

In two weeks time we will be working towards the Challenge Badge.

As part of the badge, we intend to produce a ten minute video/ The Two Left Welly Challenge (which is a 2-week challenge) is this:

to produce a piece of paper (or add a comment to the website, or email me) with your name and a useable idea for the video, in keeping with the Global Challenge theme of PEACE and LOCATION.

TLW Challenge – 24 September Saturday, Sep 25 2010

The TLW is in two parts (again) this week.

PART 1.

Following from last week’s meeting, I have drafted the Acceptable Behaviour Agreement.  The first part is to review this agreement and to comment on it.  For those not at the last Troop meeting where copies were handed out, it can be found here: http://2leftwellies.wordpress.com/acceptable-behaviour-agreement/

PART 2.

Next week, we will have a Night Hike.  Scouts are required to present a working torch.

(they will also need to be dressed appropriately for the conditions -which will be warm, dry, with suitable boots)

TLW Challenge – International Talk like a Pirate Day Saturday, Sep 18 2010

On September 19th is International Talk like a Pirate Day!  So, ye scurvy dogs, here be the first part of the Two Left Welly Challenge for yarr.  You’ll need to practice ready for mustering at the Troop Meeting!

How fast can you tie a Round Turn and Two Half Hitches?

For you Cabin Boys who have no idea what one looks like…  http://www.animatedknots.com/roundturn/index.php

The Second part of the TLW Challenge is to test your navigation round these web waters.  Find the Troop Programme – print it out (or hand write it if you’re printer’s been eaten by the ship’s cat) and present it for the inspection next Friday!

Oh yarr!

Weekly TLW Challenge – 10 September Friday, Sep 10 2010

In addition to the September Global Challenge – which is still running – this is the weekly challenge.

As part of the uniform, we check that Scouts have their Record books on their uniforms within the inspection.  These record books are the Scouts own record that they were awarded badges, and when they were awarded.  The books should also have the emergency contact number of the Scout Leader.

For the Troop meeting next week, we will be checking that the Record Books presented contain information on the badges that have been awarded and the Leader’s contact details!

Additional note:  3 Scouts have advised me that they do not possess pocket books which can be written in.  I have made a note of their names.  For those affected by this – or unable to locate the pocket book for inspection next week – you are required to produce a piece of paper which has on it:

Your Name

Leaders emergency contact details

The badges which you have been awarded.
